Who We Are
The Palestinian Internal Displacement Observatory is a human rights initiative aimed at documenting and monitoring the violations faced by Palestinian displaced persons in Gaza due to the ongoing genocide. This project is implemented by Ajyal Association for Creativity and Development in partnership with the European Endowment for Democracy.
The Observatory focuses on highlighting the suffering of displaced Palestinians resulting from the repressive measures imposed by the Israeli occupation authorities, as well as violations carried out by local authorities, gender-based violence, and other forms of violence that have led to the displacement of hundreds of thousands of Palestinian civilians within Gaza.
Information is collected and monitored through the observation of local and international media, as well as social media platforms. Additionally, the Observatory’s specialized team conducts field monitoring and listens to firsthand testimonies from displaced individuals to directly document their experiences. Through this monitoring and documentation, we aim to seek practical solutions to alleviate the suffering of the displaced, while also presenting the on-the-ground reality of displacement to the world.
Human Rights and Media Reports
Monthly human rights and journalistic reports are published on the Observatory's platform, providing detailed and documented analyses of the displacement situation in Gaza. These reports aim to shed light on the violations and challenges faced by the displaced, while also focusing on presenting practical solutions to ease their suffering. The Observatory works to provide a platform for advocating for the displaced's human rights and documenting all aspects of displacement under the harsh conditions Palestinians are enduring.
Ajyal Association for Creativity and Development is a non-profit youth organization established in 2003. It is one of the leading institutions in Gaza in the field of youth and child empowerment. The Association aims to improve the quality of life for youth who suffer from double marginalization and to empower them to play a positive role in the development of Palestinian society. With more than 18 years of experience in delivering innovative projects and interventions, Ajyal has successfully built numerous partnerships with both local and international organizations to achieve meaningful change at the individual and community levels.
Through its continuous efforts, the Palestinian Internal Displacement Observatory seeks to provide support and document the various dimensions of the suffering of displaced persons, emphasizing the principle that “No One is Left Behind.”
