When the Brush Speaks Instead of Voice: Bilal’s Story

Bilal Abu Nahl, a 27-year-old displaced man, speaks through the language of brush and pen after being forced to flee his hometown of Rafah under the fire of rockets and the rain of shells. He was fortunate not to hear the sound of the explosions, being deaf. Bilal left his city behind, along with paintings that carried the dreams of his childhood, amid destruction that left nothing of his home but a canvas of rubble — one he never had the time or peace to paint.
